MODENINE AND MUNA IN WAR OF WORDS

Modenine says Muna is just a little girl…
Reverred rapper Modenine and beauty-
queen-turned-rapper Munachi Abii were
... locked in a war of words during a rap
competition which took place some weeks
ago.
Muna, who was the host of the just
concluded ‘Nokia Don’t Break the Beat’ rap
competition which took place at the GET
Arena on Saturday, April 28 was involved in
a brief exchange with Modenine who was a
head judge after the rapper decided along
with the other judges (renowned disc
jockey DJ Jimmy JATT and Knighthouse
record label boss Rogba Arimoro) that
‘T.K.O’ had won the final rap bout, with the
first runner up being Black Jeez.
Muna sought a different opinion and made
it known as she contended the judges’
decision by saying she did not agree with
the decision, claiming she had a say in the
judgement.
‘I don’t agree with you but, my opinion
matters too, you know’, Muna told
Modenine.
A clearly pissed off Modenine tried to clear
Muna as to what her role as a host should
be and how vastly experienced he was a
Hip-Hop veteran. ‘I’ve been listening to hip-
hop for a long time, trust me, you have to
respect my opinion’, the rap veteran told
Muna right in front of the crowd.
‘I’ve also been listening to Hip-Hop for a
long time, I respect your decision but my
opinion matters, please pass the mic men’,
Muna rudely replied Modenine right in front
of the mammoth crowd.
Speaking with Nigezie right after the show,
Modenine said ‘she was very disrespectful
but I had to put her in check immediately. I
was called here to judge because of my level
of experience….It was very wrong for her to
just cut me off’.
DJ Jimmy JATT also had something to say ‘…
It was wrong what she did. Judges are
judges, comperes are comperes’. The
veteran DJ disclosed that there were other
things Muna was doing wrong on stage but
they all decided to overlook it.
Speaking with Modenine this morning, he
says Muna is yet to issue an apology to him.
‘It’s been a month plus, I’ve forgotten about
all that, I’ve got bigger wars to fight. Cocaine
is a hell of a drug, stay away from drugs.
And to if he will be releasing any diss songs
soon, he says ‘I’m a lyrical warrior but I
don’t kill women or children’.
Muna could not be reach immediately for comments.
Munachi Gail Teresa Abii Nwankwo, 24, won
the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant
in 2007 and then surprised all when she
launched her rap career months later.
Modenine is considered as one of Africa’s
greatest rappers with over four albums, five
mixtapes and numerous awards to his
credit.

I see Mavin Records being the power house of Music in Africa in the shortest possible time. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day but with a lot of hard work, a good and God fearing team, our friends and fans, TV houses, radio stations, press, bloggers and most of all with God on our side, there is nothing we cannot achieve.
I definitely won’t forget my past because I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. I know there are questions unanswered, mysteries unsolved, wounds to heal but I would really appreciate if we allow time to heal the wounds for us all instead of digging them up again.
I love and respect the press and bloggers a lot and believe they will play a major role in healing our wounds and allow the forward movement. I would love to thank everyone that contributed in making Mohits records as successful as it got. We wouldn’t have done it without you all. The love and support you have given us thus far is definitely not in vain. You all helped create international superstars and none of us will let you down.
It is going to be a very exciting journey from here. I can’t wait to show you guys all we have planned for you all. WHEN WILL DAGRIN RESURRECT LIKE 2PAC?

Many things are happening in the entertainment industry in recent times, and one of the funny but remarkable thing happened recently in Far away in America in the city of California to be precise, where Tupac, who died in 1997 after a drive-by shooting, was resurrected in front of a live audience.

Legendary Dagrin

It was at the Coachella Music and Arts festival, which included a performance by then ‘Death Row’ crew which included Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Tupac was projected on stage in full glory, bearing his tattoos and bouncing on stage as he did while alive. The crowd went wild as he performed “Hail Mary” with his living collaborator Snoop Dogg. What amazed many was when he acknowledged the crowd, calling out the name of the festival that didn’t exist while he was alive!

JJC: DON JAZZY AND WANDE COAL WRITE SONGS FOR D'BANJ

JJC
D'Banj, in a recent interview on the ongoing Mohits saga, said Don Jazzy was "cheated by JJC, and I was present. I swore never to cheat him".

In a response, JJC debunked allegations made by D'Banj and said: "I developed Big Brovas, which got signed to SONY, and they blew up. I then started JJC, the 419 squad-which was a squad of people speaking and rapping in yoruba. Along the way, MP brought a guy called D'banj to my house and D'banj came as a normal up and coming artiste would normally do; "Baba please your name is big, please help me."
D'BANJ
He went further, "Yeah and of course, like the mugu, mumu button activated JJC, I introduced him to my band. What can you do, he sang. I said that is not really good, the harmonica that you play is really good let's work on that one and develop your style. Along the way, another guy called Kas brought Don Jazzy to my house and Don Jazzy at that time was playing for Solek as a piano player and they both started working with me.

"I took all of them to WOMAD, which is the biggest African world stage they could be. We were performing in every single show that there was possible. Anything that was happening, JJC and 419 was doing it, we were at the top of the game and a lot of people can actually testify to that."
JJC also claimed to have taught Don Jazzy how to produce, and confirmed that Don Jazzy and Wande Coal write songs for D'Banj.

"I used to pay him a thousand pounds every month in 2004, which was almost N250,000, for being a trainee. Now I come back to Nigeria to shoot a video, and I see Don Jazzy and D'Banj. Don Jazzy was even talking to me, D’banj was carrying himself like some superstar.

Yes, he has made something of himself and salute to the music that Don Jazzy made because I know from 'Mobolowowon' to all the way, na me and Don Jazzy write am. Now the rest of the songs that followed, I am sure Don Jazzy wrote it. If na lie let me hear, even Wande Coal don tell me say na Don Jazzy and him dey work for the records," JJC said.

"Now you are Mr D'Banj koko koko, you think you are God. What did you call yourself? Jesus of Nigerian music? I paid them to learn how to become better themselves, so that you can become someone big and then for you to turn around and be slandering my name? You have the mouth to say it, after you don eat my food, sleep in my bed. I even give you girl, you are the one that was the bad seed."

Meanwhile Don Jazzy also dismissed the alleged financial claims by D'Banj on houses and cars, adding that he would not be dragged into making allegations and counter-allegations.

"Personally my advice to fans is to concentrate on good music from Mo’Hits and well even from D'Banj himself. Music is what we were made to create and not controversies."
