Tuface Idibia cries out "I've stopped smoking marijuana"

Many people may think that R and B singer, Tuface Idibia regrets having many women and kids in his life, but the crooner told Life and Beat that he was a responsible father and as such, “I am not going to deny my kids. I have accepted them as mine and I am willing to take care of them because I love them.” However, Tuface has a major regret. He disclosed this during the press conference for his new album, Enter The Place. “I regret smoking and drinking. That is my biggest regret. I have (made) some mistakes, but those two are the worst.” Although he regrets drinking, the crooner does not seem to be in a hurry to stop the habit. Minutes after his lamentation, the African Queen crooner bought a bottle of Red Label whisky and boozed away. Meanwhile, a lot of criticism is trailing the new album. Many believe the four-tracker, which contains three songs and one skit, does not qualify to be called an album. But Tubaba explained, “It is boldly written on the CD jacket that Enter the Place is a promo album. This is how it is done abroad and I am an international artiste. I am expected to follow international trends. The album is only meant to whet peoples’ appetite.” The full album will be out soon.”

Born on the 29th of October 1989, Kechi Okwuchi is the first daughter of two, to her parents Mike and Ijeoma Okwuchi. She grew up as an only child for the first few years of her life, till her younger sister was born in 2000.

Kechi excelled in her pre-secondary school and rode that wave into Loyola Jesuit College Abuja. She was only a year from graduation, on that fateful day of December 10th 2005. On December 10th 2005, the Sosoliso plane crashed, killing 109 passengers. Kechi Okwuchi and one other passenger were the only survivors. Kechi sustained 70% burns on her body and remained in a coma for a month at the Milpark Hospital in South Africa. Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Nigeria, took on the funding for Kechi from the time of the crash until she left for the United States in 2007. She was sent to South Africa by SPDC for immediate treatment of her burns. Kechi underwent multiple surgeries in South Africa. After waking up from her coma, she had to relearn to do everything again. She learned to sit, she learned to stand, she learned to walk and use her limbs. Needless to say, this process was painful. But one thing she never needed to learn was how to smile again. Even with all the pain from the surgeries, she still remained smiling. In 2007, Kechi returned to Nigeria and was admitted at the Shell Hospital, Port Harcourt. In August 2007, Ms Okwuchi was transferred to Shriners Chidlren’s Hospital, Galveston Texas, USA. Shriners Hospital specializes in the treatment of burns resulting from various forms of accidents for children. Children, according to the hospital’s policy, are people under the age of 18. However, the hospital, of their own discretion, decided to extend Kechi’s treatment to what has now become 3 more years. At Shriners Hospital, from 2007 till date, Kechi has undergone up to 75 different surgeries all over her body. These surgeries range from skin grafts to reconstructive surgeries. Last year, on October 29th, Kechi turned 21. According to the United States government, she is now a legal adult. As a result, she would no longer be a patient of Shriners Children’s Hospital. Shriners hospital has been kind enough to complete the surgeries they have begun. Beginning the summer of 2010, Kechi began the next step in her recovery process. She began a series of laser surgeries, which are designed to burn off the kiloids on her skin and smoothen her skin once more. Aside from the laser surgeries, she is also scheduled to begin facial reconstructive surgeries this summer in Boston. oni Payne who recently divorced 9ice has moved back into his house in Abule-Egba. Our sources also say she has been doing all the house-wife chores since she moved back in. Coupled with the fact that she has a child for 9ice, reports say Toni is now happy with being the first legitimate wife of 9ice.

In a rather dramatic twist, cosmetologist and emerging artiste manager, Toni Payne, might have moved back into the expansive Abule-Egba, Lagos, home of estranged husband – afro hip hop singer, 9ice. Her unexpected return to the house she left in unwieldy circumstances late 2009 came as a shock to neighbours, aides, close friends and relatives of the singer who thought she had moved on for good. According to several impeccable sources, Payne’s startling about-face happened last Thursday when she came to the house demanding to see the father of her child but was prevented from entering. “She called 9ice several times but he didn’t pick the call because he had been told she was at the gate. He came with a male friend even. What angered 9ice was that she didn’t pre-inform him of her visit, source says. She left without blowing a fuse, only to return the following day. This time, Payne brought along with her the only product of the short-lived marriage, Zion, and she was allowed in without much ado. Payne was in the house until Wednesday morning. The source further says, “Throughout the time she spent in the house, she was always cooking, trying to worm her way back into 9ice’s heart but he didn’t eat the food because he’s trying to be careful.”

To underscore her return, she even invited the Soundcity crew over to the house to interview her artiste, Adol, which, multiple sources say, didn’t go down well with some of 9ice’s crew members. In all of these, 9ice has reportedly kept mum and remained indifferent to Payne’s schemes. During her brief stay, it was learnt that 9ice’s parents also made surprise visits to him, lending credence to the insinuations that Payne might have begun the reconciliation process from the roots. Close watchers of the unfolding scenario are not totally surprised at her sudden transformation, far from her hitherto bellicose stance on anything 9ice, especially since she learnt that an Abuja-based lady now has a child by him. In the last one week, discerning followers and Payne’s fans, especially on social networking and micro-blogging site, twitter, would have deduced that she is whirling in a new kind of euphoria and that she still has a thing for the celebrated singer, even to the point of helping to hype his forthcoming double album. “The most anticipated album of 2011. In fact, over anticipated sef = Bashorun Gaa,” she tweets. That was last Thursday, the day she made the first visit to 9ice’s house. Another of her tweet reads, “More than love is true friendship. This alone can withstand all the ups and downs and still keep us standing. Three years….God is great.” She adds, “Two steps backwards, 20 steps forward.”

Some curious followers pointedly told her to leave 9ice alone, thinking she was up to some mischief. She had to reply one of them that she is just an avid fan of his music. Since then, every of her tweet has been punctuated with lyrics and anecdotes from the singer’s songs. Then, when 9ice made a guest appearance on a radio programme on Wednesday morning, Payne was the first to let the world know; “Oya o, (it’s) good music time. Tune in to Rhythm 93.7 FM, 9ice in the building.” She posted several tweets, indicating that she was keenly following the programme. When E-Punch spoke with her shortly after the programme, she refused to comment, saying, “I’d rather keep my private life private.”

When contacted, 9ice’s manager, Dehinde Fajana, says he is not aware of the entire affair and, therefore, could not comment. He chips in however, “9ice is an intelligent young man who knows what he wants out of life. For now, all our attention is concentrated on releasing his jazz album which would serve as a precursor for the double album. That is all I have to say.”

9ice was a burgeoning musician when he met the then US-based Toni Payne at an event in Lagos. They got married in July 2008 and had a baby shortly after. They agreed to separate in January 2010, confirming speculations that the marriage was not built on solid foundations. The third anniversary of their wedding would have been Monday, July 18.

45 Ghanaian Citizens Deported From Nigeria

Tuesday July 26, 2011 – Ghana must Go (GGM) enforcement rule is currently in Nigeria. After the previous deportation of 24 Ghanaians to Ghana on the 14th of July 2011 another 21 have recently been deported back their home land.

Mohammed Musiliu Obanikoro, The Nigerian High Commissioner in Accra, who wasn’t in good term with this action has promised to look into it immediately.

In both instances, the deportations were ordered by state governors in the most populous African country which runs a federal system in which foreign affairs, defence and internal affairs are the preserves of the federal government in Abuja.

Details available to Daily Guide suggest that the latest about of deportation saw the rounding up of 21 persons upon the orders of the Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, in Western Nigeria.

PERSONALITY OF THE WEEK: DAGRIN OLAITAN OLAONIPEKUN (1987-2010)

DaGrin was born Oladapo Olaitan Olanipekun (25/10/1987 -22/04/2010). Mr. Olaitan Olanipekun stage name is DaGrin. He also goes by other aliases such as Original Omoita, DaGrin Lomo Na, Lyrican Trouble, Fimilejo, Omo Onile, Solder Boy, Lyrical Wayray, Molenubi, Misofuyin, Omo Ogun, Akogun, Barack O’Grin, Chief Executive Omoita and other.

Education

DaGrin went Rosemary Nursery and Primary School and Good Shepherd Nursery and Primary School before attaining his secondary school education at the Community High School, Egbado College. Mr. Olaitan’s attempts to gain admission to Nigeria’s tertiary institutions hit the rock due to financial and family issues. He did however study in a computer institution somewhere around Lagos State. He later decided to invest his time and effort in music since he loves doing music and writing lyrics with great passion.

Musical Career

DaGrin was a recording artiste, songwriter, rapper and performer. Like any other artiste, the start was rough for DaGrin. Olaitan’s first album titled “Still On the matter” came and went without much impact in the music industry. He was never deterred by the ratings of his first album; he was determined to make a lasting footprint in the music industry. He went back to the studio and re engineer is God given talents. The result of his hard work and persistence was his sophomore album titled “Chief Executive Omoita (C.E.O) and surely, it was a party banger. He was signed to his own label Missofunyin Entertainment and managed by Edlyne Records.

His imprint Mi So Fu Yin Entertainment was gradually taking shape; Dagrin had a performance in and out of Lagos every other week. Everybody wanted him on their album, mixtape, single… it didn’t matter; everybody just wanted a piece of Dagrin.

Just two days before the horrific accident that took away his life occurred; Dagrin was putting together his last song, Show Me the Money, for Lineo ‘Elepepe Master’. On April 14th, just a few hours before the accident, Dagrin paid a visit to the Hip Hop World office in Ikeja. The awards were drawing closer and with three nominations to his name, the hustler’s dream was finally coming true.

RAPPER JA RULE TO SPEND OVER TWO YEARS IN PRISON

US rapper and actor Ja Rule has been sentenced to 28 months in a Federal prison by a Federal judge for failing to file income tax returns. The sentence which was made on a three misdemeanor count requires the South-South Jamaica Queens rapper to pay up to $1.1 Million to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Born Jeffrey Atkins, the multi-platinum selling rapper who hasn’t had it going good in the music scene for a while openly admitted and pleaded guilty in March 2011 for failing to pay taxes of more than $3 million that he earned between 2004 and 2006. Even though he had asked for four to five years extensions, Ja Rule still failed to file in the tax returns.

‘I in no way attempted to deceive the government or do anything illegal,” he said, minutes before being sentenced in a New Jersey federal court. “I was a young man who made a lot of money — I’m getting a little choked up — I didn’t know how to deal with these finances, and I didn’t have people to guide me, so I made mistakes‘, Ja Rule explains.

Ja Rule was also sentenced in New York City last month to up to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal weapon possession.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Mack who has asked the judge not to let Ja Rule off with no jail time on the federal charges says ‘The court should impose the same sentence it would impose on someone who is not a celebrity‘.

‘My business is very ‘out of sight, out of mind,’” he told the judge. “The longer I’m away, the longer it’ll take me to get back to doing what I need to do to actually pay these taxes‘, Ja Rule asked for leniency from the Judge.

The rapper’s seventh studio album ‘Pain Is Love 2‘ is set to drop August 2011.
