RAPPER FREESTYLE AND VINA JOINS KISS FM AS HEAD OF PRODUCTION

Talented rapper/producer Mfon Essien better known as Freestyle has taken up employment at Kiss FM 99.9, Abuja, Nigeria. The former member of the defunct rap group Trybesmen will resume as Head of Production at the station which is located in Wuse II area of Abuja. Freestyle was formerly at Hot Fm, Abuja but had to leave. According to him, the brand was ‘conflicting’. ‘I was approached by Kiss FM and I went for the job. I have always had a passion for presenting. After studying radio courses in the UK, I haven’t really gotten the chance to do that’, Freestyle told Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) in a telephone conversation. ‘The main reason I’m in Abuja is because I’m studying for my Masters. But I’ll be working from the background with Kiss FM. It’ll give others a chance to present too’, he added. Also, one for Nigeria’s representative at the Big Brother Amplified show, Vina, will also be working with the station. Sources say she and Freestyle will be the official brand ambassadors of the radio station. Freestyle who recently changed the spelling of his name to Fr33style also disclosed that his long-awaited follow up album titled ‘My Name is Essien’ is already in the mass production stage.

Brandy & The Game to storm Nigeria for MTN Project Fame kick off

The fourth season of the popular MTN Project Fame West Africa reality show is about to kick off and organizers have announced that US artistes Brandy, The Game will be performing at the talent show! Also, Nigerian acts D’banj and ex-project fame stars Iyanya, Mike Ayansodo, Chidinma and Praiz will also light up the stage as they perform their songs. Veteran disc jockey DJ Jimmy JATT will be on the wheels of steel.

Brandy confirmed her forthcoming performance via a voice drop over the weekend.

‘Hey everybody this is Brandy. I’ll be performing at the opening gala at MTN Project Fame West Africa season four at the Eko Expo Center on Sunday, October 2nd. It’s gonna be fire and my first time in Nigeria, so I’ll see everybody there. Bye’ Brandy delightfully said.

Former Train Station Cleaner Elected President Of Zambia

A former platform sweeper at Victoria train station in London, Michael Sata, was yesterday in a rare twist of fate elected as the President of Zambia defeating incumbent President Rupiah Banda in keenly contested election marred by pockets of violence. There were huge celebrations from his supporters as the National Election Commission announced the results in which Sata won with 1,150,045 votes to Banda’s 961,796, with 95.3 per cent of constituencies counted. The Patriotic Front candidate took 43 per cent of the votes in his fourth presidential bid. He lost by only two percentage points to Mr Banda, also 74, in 2008. Referring to his humble life as sweeper in Britain working at Victoria station, Sata said: “I never got any complaints about my work. I want to sweep my country even cleaner than I swept the station.” Wishing him all the very best.

Top producer Cobhams Asuquo is expecting his 1st child

Cobhams Asuquo who got married to his lovely wife Odunola Asuquo late last year is expecting his 1st baby according to friends of the family, Cobhams Asuquo has been showing a lot of excitement about his wife’s pregnancy.

Tonto Dikeh confided in a close friend, who happens to be one of my industry moles about her dislike for wearing loose skirts or pants, she revealed that she always love to wear tight trousers because she is easily aroused when any think comes close to her waist or private area, of which pants and loose skirts are a major culprit. Personally I think it is wrong for a lady not be well packaged, in terms of wearing the right set of underwear and gadgets to protect the necessary areas, but I guess it boils down to choice at the end of the day, to wear or not to wear.

EME SET TO SIGN WIZKID TO AKON'S KONVICT MUZIK

If rumour around town is anything to go by, then, EME recording artiste Wizkid might soon be on Akon's music label Konvict Muzik.

The owners of EME and Wizkid who are currently in the United Kingdom are talking to the international Senegalese singer and music mogul on the possobilities of Wizkid joining the label. Unconfirmed reports also have it that Akon has remixed Wizkid's smash hit Don't Dull.

It was said that the Akon liked the song so much that he had to jump on the remix. Over the years Akon has been a lover and supporter of Nigerian music especially Tu Face and Faze. He even stated years ago that he signed Faze to his label but nothing materialized from the partnership.

Two years ago Akon also signed the Ghanian rapper known as Sarkodie.

Church sets record of 20 offering in a single service

A Pentecostal Church in Lagos in Nigeria has set an amazing record of collecting 20 separate offerings during one single Church service.

This amazing feat was achieved during the Church's 20th anniversary service when the pastor revealed to his congregation that God had instructed him to collect one round of offerings for every one of the Church's 20 years of existence.

Although quite remarkable, representatives of other similar Churches in Lagos have been quick to point out how their own Churches have performed similar or even more fantastic feats.

For instance, one extremely well dressed pastor of a thriving Pentecostal Church laughed at the 20 collections record and said of his own Church:

"That's nothing! In my Church, we once raised a hundred million Naira during a single service and with only one collection. My Church is the Church to belong to. Tweet that!"
